It's been on the news everyday that Jay gave Christmas Bonuses(That didn't amount to much) and that 80 people were fired from his show...I think that makes Jay look bad...but Jay doesn't have to give out anything if he doesn't want to... Jay is to cheap to himself new clothes, what did they really expect?

Sean Taylor's funeral was today in Miami (NFL Football player who was murder in his home) His whole team attended the service.
Sean's Baby Momma is Andy Garcia's niece...so so sad...
I'm from Orlando Florida...it was so sad that my sister wasn't at the funeral! It's only a few hours away...all those fine black men... in tailor suits...with good jobs...and medical... in one place!...she better not miss the next one...so sad.--------

Maurice looked like he had a sip of tequila in that pic. So it's really true that Jay isn't paying salaries? today on the radio I heard he was, so you're not hte only one to report that.

Jay is paying his non-writing staff's salaries this week. No mention of next week so who knows if he'll continue.
I feel a bit sorry for him, b/c he's gotten really bad press over this, and has essentially been forced/guilted into covering his staff b/c of it. The staffers who complained about Jay letting them down seemed really ungrateful IMO. They are mad at Jay when it's not his fault NBC fired them. Did they really think NBC was going to keep paying them, when no show is being produced?

Thanks...I know I was wrong but when they flashed the audence at the funeral...I was like my sister better put on that red dress(to stick out) and get down to Miami...Let's not waste a good opportunity...
One person said yes the first day...then I said that not two long ago...Joe M. who is the Head writer for the Tongith Show said no...I miss the big issue... like whats the big deal? I thought Jay would look like a nice guy paying his writers for a few weeks or so...
Something is up with that whole pay or not pay thing...it will come out one day...
Thanks again...this strike thing is nuts...The producers are smart and educated in PR...and negotiations...writers are creative people.
Produecers know what they are going to have to give a good contract to the writer...So the Producers are going to make it as hard as possible...what would you do if you had all the money and someone wanted it...you are not going to hand it over with out a fight...no matter if you are right or wrong.

I am feeling you on that. Jay Leno dosn't own the Tonight Show...As soon as a buzz of a strike... I would just keep an eye out for plan B job...
No one knows how long this strike is going to be...They can all work at Philly's Best on Olive owned by Mike the Stage Manager...ha ha.

That's not right..The writers can't cross the picket line. So put up or shut up Jay.
Does Jay have an PR person? a...advisor of some sort...he is just not coming across well at all. The strikers are fan/sick of him.

Glozell, to answer your question, I think all of the staff were let go or suspended except for a few people. 2 or 3 people are left I think.
When the show starts up again, many of these people will be re-hired, but it's possible some won't, b/c it's an opportunity for the studio to cut costs. Why have 120+ staffers, writers, etc when maybe you can get by with 110?
I feel badly for those who were let go, but at the same time, the ones complaining about Jay sound totally naive. NBC wasn't going to pay for a show that isn't filming. Jay has no control over what the Network does (if he did, would he be leaving in 2009?!). At the end of the day, this is a business, and they should know that. They've known a strike was coming for months. If they want to be mad at someone, at least be mad at the writers. And I'm not saying the writers are wrong, but again, it's a business. The strike has consequences, which is that non writing staffers are going to get laid off.
As for Jay I don't know if he has a publicist/advisor. He has a spokesperson who's been quoted in the news I think. I don't know how this thing snowballed into such bad press for him. It's crazy. It's partly his fault, cuz he should've known with Conan and Letterman paying their staffs, he'd was going to be pressured to do the same. But to have headlines say stuff like "Leno Fires Staff" when it was NBC not him, just seems crazy! Not to mention his own staffers bitching at him in the press. Jeez!
