GREEN DAY...

This was an amazing comment left on my Saturday's blog... Thanks Leslie S.

To The Producers of the Jay Leno Show ...DON'T Let GLOZELL Be The "One That Gets Away"We can all remember that one relationship. Someone that we took for granted, someone that was just under our noses...that, once gone, we realize how terrific they really were.

Sometimes we realize this when we see them on the arm of another person, in this case I am concerned the producers of the Jay Leno show will only realize their "one" is so terrific when they see her on TV, telling another host about the two years she spent going to the Jay Leno Show and not getting ANY chance at all on the Jay Leno show.

You see producers, you have gotten a lot right, or someone with the intelligence and talent of GloZell would never promote your show, but you are getting one big thing wrong...and that's GloZell. I have known GloZell for almost 9 years.

I have assisted directed her in a show and worked alongside her as a producer in a musical group and in the promotion of a pilot. I have never met anyone that had the ability to bond with others so quickly, figure out people, and make them all laugh at the same time...sounds like someone that would make a great addition to the Jay Leno show...you would think the Jay Leno producers would think so too. But unfortunately, what has happened is that those that are in charge have looked at GloZell incorrectly.

They secretly read her blog, and probably even chuckle while they read it, but out of fear, they haven't even given her a chance. They have done this out of fear. Instead of seeing the amazing comedian, actress, songwriter, and writer in front of them, they have chosen to stay afraid.

What a tremendous addition to the show it would be if GloZell were asked to contribute a few jokes to the opening monologue, or even write a clever song or rap spoofing some of today's current events..you know you've laughed out loud when you have read some of her celebrity posts.

What if you were to just give her one minute to interview some of the attendees that wait in line...you know she has the ability to pull out some of the funniest characters. I ask you producers, and Jay Leno...did anyone ever give YOU a chance? I bet somewhere along the way, they did. GloZell is the full package and she would add diversity, and a really unique wit to the show. Why don't you just give her a chance.

Ask her to write a skit or a song, or do an interview. Give her a few minutes on the stage...did you know she did the Groundlings, (where a lot of Saturday night live people started. ) Did you know she has her SAG card and a degree in Theatre, did you know she has done stand-up in some of the hottest comedy bars in LA? (GloZell, you can name the ones.) And all the while she still plays piano and sings in her church.

You see, she isn't going to the Jay Leno show because she doesn't have a life, she goes because she really loves the show...and because she is one of the wonderful people that really look for a life to be enjoyable ...she also goes as a brilliant way to get to know and be seen by people in the entertainment industry.

What a different story it would have been for a young Stephen Spielberg...you know the story...he snuck in on the lots and found an empty trailer..told people he was a director..the rest is history.) What a different story it would have been for him if there hadn't been an empty trailer...he would have been the one that got away. You have that here with GloZell. It's only a matter of time.

America is ready for a talent like GloZell..and someday, she will remember Jay Leno and his producers as the ones who gave her a break, or the ones that didn't give her chance...the choice is really yours...how do you want to be known and remembered? Really look at her Blog. Instead of allowing your fear to influence your perception....I encourage you to see the brilliance in it.

GLoZell is like a sociologist and comedian rolled into one. Don't you see this? She is more than qualified to be on your show. Give her one chance. Remember when someone gave you a chance. Would it really hurt you? What if you just pretaped something and if you didn't like it, you don't need to use it..but give her the chance to show what she really has.

What if you just honored her for moment for going to over 100 episodes? GloZell has been in lots of plays, commercials, TV..she doesn't NEED to go to the show. She enjoys it. I know GloZell, and can vouch that she can really make people laugh with her wit and jokes.

I encourage anyone to read this to petition the producers of the Jay Leno show and Jay Leno to give GloZell a chance to do what she does....let her write a few blibs for the opening monologue...what could that hurt? If you don't like them, don't use them, but at least give her the chance to show you what she really has.

She is a great writer. Why don't you utilize her gifts to your advantage? You have seen how witty she is, just read her blog, but DON'T let this talented girl go another day without utilizing her gifts...there is a reason that she can meet total strangers everyday and they enjoy her, and tell her their stories.

I hope I have helped present a case for the talent that is GloZell. I am writing this only because I feel really frustrated that GloZell has given so much, and been so clever and creative, and hasn't been rewarded yet. Producers...Jay Leno..it's up to you.... and GLoZell fans, let the producers know that you want her on the show in some capacity. Best!Leslie S. MA

No more comments about the show and the guests? BOOO! I liked Leslie's comment and would sign a online petition if she started one!

I tried to listen to your Palm Sunday snippets, but it just kept "buffering"????

I'll check back later! Happy Holy Week, girl!!!

GloZell,

I'm actually an employee on The Tonight Show. I've seen your blog many times and I thought I could give you some real advice. You obviously have a great deal of commitment and allegiance to the show but, the only way to obtain employment is to first of all, decide on a specific position, then talk with someone who actually has that job and find out precisely how they went about landing it. Hollywood jobs are hard to come by but, if you have a clear game plan, incredible tenacity, and you do your homework about the positon you're seeking, you will have a great chance of getting it. I know your friend who posted the petition to the show meant well but, that's not how you get a job in his business, trust me. As far as contributing material to the monologue or other comedy pieces, that is also not something you will just be "given a shot at". Jay's writers have a very specialized job that, in almost all cases, has taken years to land. All his writers have started out as freelancers who proved themselves over a long period of time and unfortunately, they are not bringing in any more freelance writers at this point.
Your best bet in my estimation would be to learn as much as you can about assistant positions or non-intern page positions (if there are any). I hope this gives you a better understanding. Remember, they'll never hand you any job just for showing up all the time.

To the Anonymous person that works for the Jay Leno that responded to GloZell's blog..... YEAH! Finally....it is revealed that people that work on the show read GloZell's blog.
I can't speak for GloZell, and all my comments are my own opinion and not necessarily the opinion of anyone else...so any suggestions I may have given the producers were my own.

That being said... Hollywood is really an interesting place. You are right that stating one's purpose and intention is very important...and focusing in and developing skills are very important...and if GloZell just "showed-up" once or twice...wasn't hilarious, quirky, cute, funny, and talented...no one would give her a job....that being said...there is a reason that you and others that work on the show continue to read her blog...because she's funny...

I know lots of people that have humbly become interns for big companies, people that were really talent, only to never be thought of as talent again. I agree that it is an avenue for some people, but GloZell is a trained actress, with a degree in theatre, a Sag card, lots of stand-up experience...etc. Perhaps that wasn't made clear, but let's make it clear now.

Jay calls up or points out people in the audience all the time for little talents, etc. Why couldn't you put GloZell on for a few minutes as his number one fan... it's kind of funny if you think about it, and really good promotion for Jay that someone so talented, diversified, and cute would want to devote a portion of her day to this...plus she has experience as a stand-up comedian (GloZell help me out here, and would you put your resume online...)if you read the rest of my email, you will see that I cited some of GloZell's resume, Groundlings, Musical Theatre, songwriter, etc. So the point is you have an up and coming talent in front of you that has found an incredibly creative way of making herself known in Hollywood....that's the way it works. The doors don't open automatically when you are talent, but here you are, knowing her name, going to her blog, and she builds a new fan base everyday. Pretty brilliant if you ask me.

I understand that in your job you probably had to go up the ranks and ladders, etc. and I think that is really great. I truly mean that, and I know that your email meant to help GloZell. But what I am sharing is that GloZell is already qualified to be on camera in the show.

Just think about it...what if you had Jay interview her for two minutes on stage...and let America see this young woman who has come to the show SO many times...think about it...

Were I in your position...here is what I would do...so that my conscious doesn't bother me forever...I would send one of the "pages" "interns" ,etc to talk with GloZell. Tell her there are no promises, but you want to just get her on tape so the producers can see what she has to offer. Than ask her questions about being Jay's number one fan, why she comes to the show so often,...then...ask her about the current election, ask her about current events...let her be a comedian for a few minutes. Then look at the tape. See if it makes you laugh.

And GloZell, I encourage you to check inside, and then write from the heart what you would ideally like to have happen here in your experience at the Jay Leno show. Make it as specific as possible. Do you want to interview people waiting in line? Do you want to do stand-up? Let the world know your intention. Remember energy follows intention.

I invite us all to hold a space for possibility here. Thank you anonymous, that was nice of you to respond, and perhaps it will help clarify and bring GloZell closer to her goal. Let's see what we can do.

What I so admire, despite what anyone says, is this sincere, creative, young woman who brought herself everyday to a show, took risks, met new people, and kept at it. I know of no one else that would have taken such a quirky and creative action to start this blog and interview people, and blog about Jay Leno! Really unique!

Much Love,

Leslie S.

I totally agree with Leslie. GloZell is pretty much my favorite part of The Tonight Show. I went Friday and had a BLAST with her in line. I had a blast with her the last time I was there too. In fact, I've encouraged a bunch of my friends to go to the show SPECIFICALLY to meet GloZell. She's absolutely fabulous and one of the funniest people I've ever met. Just knowing she'll be in line makes me want to go to the tapings more often. I really think it would be an asset for NBC to add her as a sort of regular character on the show, kind of like Ross the Intern. She's hilarious! Sometimes I wonder where she comes up with her stuff, and that's a GOOD thing.

GloZell - keep up what you're doing. You're amazing. One day, I hope I'll be standing in line for YOUR show. Just make sure you get the Backstreet Boys on it, k? Thanks!

GloZell,

If you're so good at entertaining the audience when they are outside of the stage - why don't you think of entertaining the audience when they are INSIDE the stage? You should really start using your connections and try to find a job as a warm up comedian. Technically you do have two years experience, haha! You should ask the writers you met on the strike, I bet there are plenty of pilots being shot that need warm up comedians. And the gig is only for the time of the show, so if the show starts after Tonight Show, you could still come to the line everyday.

That way you'll actually be getting paid to entertain the audience, and there could be room to move up. Although I don't want to agree with the Tonight Show employee, I do agree with him a little. Sometimes we have to work for people to give us a chance to our dreams.

Thanks fan!

I did find out that you need an agent to be a warm up comedian...

I wonder if talking to the audience before they go in is the same thing...

The Tonight Show employee obviousely knows what he is talking about... it' is nice that people I know for years and people I have never met... think well of me...

some people get great jobs by talent, who they know, money, who they sleep with... jobs happen all kinds of ways...

something is going to..fit...

one day...

You are right fan... branch out...

Thanks for your great advice and comments
